It is our pleasure to invite international academics,
commentators and experts to submit abstracts for consideration
by the organising committee. Speakers will have the

this high-level event, which is being held in Shanghai,
China, on 31 October Ἷ November 2007.
Globally, the wind energy sector is booming, and China
hold the potential of becoming one of the biggest markets
for the wind power industry. Realising this promise
is now one of the most important challenges for policy
makers as well as international and domestic industry
alike.
The wind energy industry has now reached over 70,000
megawatts (MW) of installation worldwide, with an annual
market worth some ᾿bn or US$14bn. The Chinese government
has set its target for wind energy at 30GW by 2020.
However, the industry believes that the potential of
the Chinese market is much bigger.
Around the world there is a major push for the reduction
of greenhouse gas emissions. Wind energy is one of the
most effective power generation technologies that is
ready today for global deployment on a scale that can
help tackle climate change, safeguard our security of
energy supplies, and help meet our growing energy demand.
The programme for WIND POWER SHANGHAI 2007 event will
cover all aspects of the wind energy industry and its
continued development, both globally and with a focus
on the Chinese market. We encourage you to submit abstracts
relevant to the wide range of topic areas outlined below,
including policy developments, technology advancements
and business trends.
We look forward to your active participation in this
exciting, high profile event and to meeting you in Shanghai,
