The judgment made according to the development situation in the first half of 2007 shows that the objective for wind power of 5G in 2010 can be realized at the end of 2007, i.e. three years earlier. Subsequently the objective of 30GW as an installed capacity of wind power scheduled to realize in 2020 seems easy to be accomplished. The long-term objective to develop wind power is that, after 10 ~ 15 years of preparation and by the year 2020 around, wind power will be capable of competing in terms of power generation technology with other conventional energies and become the third largest conventional power supply following thermal power and hydropower. Specifically, the installed capacity by the time should be at least 70GW, preferably 100GW under active efforts to create favorable condition, accounting for 10% of then total installed capacity for power generation. When 500GW even 1000GW are realized in 2040 or 2050, the installed capacity and energy output will account for over 20%. In order to accomplish this strategic objective, government is required to formulate supportive policies and investors and institutions of research and development to make efforts with perseverance. Through the coming 10 ~ 15 years of endeavor by investors and developers, it is expected to build an industry system of wind power with international competitiveness, which also is a technical and industrial foundation to ensure accomplishment of our country’s long-term objective set for wind power generation.
